Real Estate in the Rocky Mountains…

CLIENT: Shevock Real Estate, Jackie Shevock

ROLE: Brand Development, Advertising, Signage, Web development

I grew up in a family of real estate agents. Loud, Irish Catholic, blonde, park bench headshot type real estate agents. But real estate isn’t what it used to be 30 years ago. Anyone can start a brokerage and a damn good one at that. When I was referred to Jackie Shevock she’d worked as an agent for almost 25 years in the Colorado Springs area. She’d worked for half a dozen different brokerages and decided… “You know what? I can do this on my own.” So she called me. From the branding to signage and everything in between we worked together to create a beautiful brand for her new brokerage, SHEVOCK Real Estate, to compliment the stunning landscape of the Rocky Mountains.

Branding inspired by Pikes Peak

Jackie has a bold and expressive personality. She’s straightforward and I can appreciate that about her. Her guidance to me was she loved the color orange and needed it to stand out in the sea of other for sale signs while driving down the road. Something that you would look at and think “Hmm, that looks a little different.”

I went through about 15 different logo variations before finally landing on this design. I wanted to create more than just a logo, I wanted an entire brand package to be used across any platforms. This was my first real brand development from start to finish for a client. I was 22 years old and freshly graduated. Now, years later, I do see things I would go back and change, but I won’t, because that is just the perfectionist in me speaking and I don’t let her take over anymore.

No other industry has more paperwork than real estate… except maybe finance. I dunno, I think they all use excel now. Stationary, postcards, and notebooks were a must have for Jackie and her team.

Stationary worth bragging about

A Sign for Every Occasion

As a kid, I was toted around to every one of my mom’s open houses, and she certainly wouldn’t let me eat the house cookies until I put in the work. One of my tasks was to put out the open house signage around the neighborhood and pick out the balloons to call attention to the super basic Coldwell Banker signage. Even as a little baby designer, I thought to myself, why isn’t the sign itself eye-catching enough? So that’s what I did for these signs. Ones that were bold and bright enough not to need a bunch of sad, wilting balloons caught around the poles.

More than just “For Sale” signs I created directionals, riders, rentals, and templates for each agent to get their own custom set of signage. It’s important for everyone to feel seen, and no one loves being seen more than real estate agents.

Consistency for Social Media

One of the biggest challenges that small businesses face is maintaining aesthetic cohesion across their social media platforms. My job was to give the Shevock team all the tools they needed to be successful on Instagram, Facebook, Nextdoor, and just about anywhere else they wanted to promote their houses.

Web development is not for the weak of heart

Websites, websites, websites, everyone asks for a website but when does the website ever ask for us? Anyway…. integrating a home search feature into this WordPress site was nothing short of a miracle based on my coding capabilities a the time. I did it though, just please never ask me to build another website in WordPress without a web developer… My W3 school skills can only take me so far.

Single Page Fold-Open Mailers

I actually used a template I created for a project in university to make this mailer. It was the first mass mailer I designed, printed, folded, stamped, and mailed myself. I even scored and perforated each individual sheet myself. Yeah, my hands were cramping for a while after that I won’t lie.

It had a great ROI with over 15 people asking where Jackie had gotten these made! Total mailers sent: 649 | Calls to Jackie: 72 | Leads: 41 | Closed Sales: 4
